Review by Nicole Roberts

Buffalo, NY rockers, Younger Then have been hard at work since their 2015 formation. Quickly establishing a name for themselves as a band with great material and an impressive live show, the band have certainly earns their legion of followers. With this release, it's easy to see how why. Straight off the bat, the album is strong. From beginning to end, it's a solid album, with all of the tracks maintaining an energy that doesn't falter or stumble. Their sound is familiar, yet it isn't a rip off of any other band, merely a conglomeration of the best bits from many different acts and genres mashed into the one release.

Kicking it off with 'December', a track that's got a strong indie rock vibe, its ridiculously catchy hook and upbeat melody immediately get you into a better mood. The second track, 'Ghost', is definitely a stand out track. It takes it back to a more moody place and while the sound of this track is so wildly different than the album opener, the two songs still make sense back to back. Their songwriting is tight and they clearly draw on a very wide range of influences, finding inspiration in numerous places.

The album then goes from strength to strength. Third track 'Forget Love' is so musically tight and memorable, it's hard to believe that this band have only been around for such a short period of time. Some bands who have been doing this for far longer than this quartet aren't anywhere near as polished as these guys are. Moving easily into 'Sweetest', an upbeat, energetic, ludicrously catchy song, Younger Then go on to then show their versatility by taking it back a notch with 'Like Hell'. A heartfelt and powerful track, 'Like Hell' provides a nice reprieve from the indie rock explosion that is the rest of the album. Finishing strong with 'Uproot', the perfect finale to the album, a mix of the relentless energy from the beginning of the album and the moodiness of the second half.

All in all, this album is incredibly strong, and it's even more impressive when you think about how long the band have been together. The boys are back in the studio soon to record their first full length, and I for one am definitely excited to see what they come back with. This is a great indie rock release which stands out in a sea of mediocre music from their peers. Definitely one for any rock or indie fans to check out.

3.5 out of 5 stars.

Younger Then's Self Titled EP is available in Australia on April 21.
