Spotlight: Isotopes

Artist: Isotopes

Genre: Melodic Hardcore

For Fans Of: The Devil Wears Prada, A Day To Remember, The Ghost Inside, The Amity Affliction

Since their inception in 2013, Isotopes have been on a mission to set themselves apart from the crowd. Knowing full well the sheer magnitude of melodic hardcore bands flooding the scene over the last few years, the Sydney boys definitely needed something to set themselves apart from the melee. And they've got it.

With the release of their 2016 EP Lost, the five piece quickly established a name for themselves as well as a devout following of melodic hardcore lovers. Their video for 'Hurt' was wildly successful, gaining over 100k views since its December 2016 release, which is incredibly impressive given their fairly new status and the fact that they've only got one EP to date under their belt.

Their sound is fresh but familiar, with the combination of frontman Justin Miller's crystal clear cleans and throat wrenching screams with guitartists' Josh Wood and Alex Maybury's pulverising riffs a sound to behold. Backed up by their tight drums and Mitch Davie's unrelenting bass lines, and you've got a tight sound that makes you want more.

With a string of tour dates and some new music on the horizon, Isotopes are now looking at 2017 as their year. Coming up in May, the boys will hit the road with their friends in Ten Years Too Late in support of South Australia's The Daily Chase on their 'Never Change Tour' (see below for more details). Filling in on drums for the group will be Hamish from The Maybe List.

Not only will the boys be hitting the road to take their own brand of melodic hardcore to new crowds, but they're also heading back into the studio with producer Stevie Knight at Electric Sun this Wednesday to begin recording for the new single. Having already worked with Knight previously on their EP, the band are in good hands. With the single hopefully out mid to late June, fingers crossed a full length isn't too far in the future. Check these boys out and watch this space as I think we're going to see great things come from this group.

Lost is out now via Isotopes' bandcamp and iTunes.
