Fierce Mild are the epitome of genre blending, expectation shattering, mind blowing, alternative music done right. Managing to mix elements of numerous genres (folk, shoegazing, psychadelic, post-rock, alternative rock, electro-acoustic and dub, to name a few) flawlessly, they really don't allow themselves to be boxed into any genre or limitations, preferring to follow their own path at every opportunity. Earning a reputation as a phenomenal live act, their shows can be described as a 'cinematic experience', elevating themselves to an underground cult status.
The Melbourne sextet came together in 2014, and given their short lifespan thus far, they've definitely caused a stir. Now gearing up to release their debut album in 2017, they'll be bringing us more of their wandering guitars, atmospheric vibes and Troy Rainbow's Gareth Liddiard-esque vocals, and fans are absolutely frothing to see more from this ridiculously talented group. I, for one, am 100% here for the journey that this band takes you on.
The great news is that the band will be doing a residency and video launch in Melbourne at The Gasometer Hotel in Collingwood, so all of you Victoria fans are in luck. The band will be there on the 18th and 25th of April (further details below), and will be the local launch of their new single, 'Solaris', with plans for an international launch at a later date.
'Solaris' is described as being a response to a dream journal, and gives you the sense of understanding what's going on in the moment, but afterwards not really knowing what just happened. The video plays with the idea of subconscius and conscious interaction, looking at a tumultuous psyche and being inspired by a murder that happened on the Great Ocean Road. Described as a 'continuous, cinematic pyscho-thriller from start-to-finish', if you can get down to the launch, do yourself a favour and go.
