Spotlight: Cursed Earth
Artist: Cursed Earth
For Fans Of: Harms Way, Black Breathe, Nails
You've probably heard the name Cursed Earth floating around lately, with a string of huge tours being announced. With the recent resurgence of quality music coming out of Perth and causing a stir, Cursed Earth are at the forefront of the comeback. With their intense music, dynamic live shows and no bullshit view on life, which is apparent through their music, it's little surprise that they're spearheading the WA music movement.
Cursed Earth have a reputation for their music being short, loud, and to the point. With their most recent release Enslaved By The Insignificant coming in at 17 minutes, despite having 11 songs, their songs pack a punch and manage to cram a whole lot of noise into such short tracks. Receiving rave reviews across the board, the 2016 release cemented their place as one of the Australian bands you need to hear if you love your hardcore and metal.
With a wide variety of influences, it's little wonder that their music is so unlike everything else floating about lately. Vocalist Jazmine Luders alone has a myriad of vocal influences, including Mike Hranics (The Devil Wears Prada), Hayley Williams (Paramore), Jon Mess and Johnny Craig (Dance Gavin Dance), Bones (rapper), Brendan Garone (Incendiary), and Josh Kelting (Expire) - and they're just to name a few.
Hitting the road on numerous high profile shows, the band will be supporting Australian metal legends Thy Art Is Murder along with Alpha Wolf and Deadlights, as well as appearing at Damnation 2017 in July. On top of that, they'll be bringing the noise on their own tour with Statues on their War March Aus Tour 2017. There'll be plenty of opportunities to catch this solid band on any one of their multiple upcoming shows, so be sure to see them at your local gig.
