Majora Release New Track & Video

Newcastle progressive post-rock band Majora are returning to the fore of the Australian music scene with their brand new single, 'Aphotic', giving us the first taste of a new EP of the same name, due for release Friday September 15 through Bird's Robe Records.

Mike Solo, head of Bird's Robe said "I am very excited to have Majora on the label - it can't be said enough that they are part of an exciting new breed of instrumental and progressive music coming out of Australia - and this is a great first project to work on together." Working with highly acclaimed engineers Dax Liniere and Forrester Savell on the mixing and production of the EP, Majora have sought to deliver a superior release. The pensive, visually stunning filmclip for the title track 'Aphotic' was filmed and directed by Tim Grove. Watch it below.

Majora shared their insight about the new record - "Aphotic is our first conceptual and thematic release, with each song relating back to the core concept and written as a continual listening experience from start to finish. This EP is written with a wider variety of influences ranging from ambient music, hip hop and electronica, while pushing ourselves further on a technical level. We feel this is our best effort to date in songwriting, production and musicianship, and we are very excited to finally release the Aphotic EP and tour a more dynamic and diverse live set."

The quartet released their debut EP Iridescent in 2015, followed by the headline Iridescent tour and winning the Triple J Unearthed inaugural 'This-That' competition. With the release of the single 'Tidal' and another headline tour in 2016, Majora were selected to perform with Cog, Twelve Foot Ninja, The Contortionist, Protest the Hero and sleepmakeswaves among many other high-profile artists throughout the year.

Single 'Aphotic' will be available in Spotify and the Aphotic EP available to pre-order in Bandcamp from this Friday 11th August.
