Meliorist are something else. Hailing from Brisbane, the metal act was formed in 2015 by guitarist Andrew Apte and drummer James Ollis, who had a history of playing together in former bands. Bringing along Matthew WIlliams on vocals, Maxim Lullfitz on guitar and Samuel Schodel on bass, they've had the pedal to the floor ever since then.
The boys have wasted no time getting their music into the ears of fans, first with their debut self-titled EP in 2016, and soon with their second EP ii in December 2017. Their latest effort was self-produced by Apte in his home studio in Brisbane, before being mixed and mastered by Brian Hood of 456 recordings in Nashville TN (Memphis May Fire, Sworn In, Being As An Ocean and Iconoclast) with the cover artwork done by the talented Maxime Desmettre, who has done concept art and design for many Ubisoft videogames - basically, a solid team got together to make this EP the best it could be.
Meliorist gave everyone a taste of the EP recently with the release of the single and video for 'My Reflection'. The song really reflects (sorry) the mature and driven direction the band have been moving in, showcasing the dynamic sound they've really begun to master.
If you like what you hear, the band will be launching their EP on December 1st at Brisbane's Flamin' Galah bar, alongside Fragments and I, The Divide. Pre-Sale Tickets go on sale Friday October 27 at Oztix and every ticket purchased can redeem a free EP download when the EP is released - purchasers just need to e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with their receipt of the ticket purchase to redeem.
Or you can grab a pre-order of the EP now on bandcamp.
