Show Us Ya Tees: Matt William of Whoretopsy

December 2, 2017

If you're a metalhead then chances are you've got a wardrobe full of black t-shirts featuring the artwork and designs of some of your favourite bands that you love to listen to. We all have a particular shirt that you always go to, you've probably worn it countless times at the live shows you attend, drenched in beer and sweat, but still surviving. They might represent a special memory, a chronicle in your life, or just something that represents the music you love. They are the shirts that you can't wait to wear again after they've been washed and dried, so you can wear it with pride as soon as you can. Band tees are simply the uniform for those that are super passionate about music. For this edition, Matt William from Melbourne's brutal death metal act, Whoretopsy, shares his favourite band tees with us.

Black Rheno. We toured with these guys earlier this year on the "Thrash Blast and Grind Fest" and they are bloody legends. I bought this shirt on the tour after the 2nd or 3rd show because they blew me away. I had seen their video clip 'No time for numb nuts' (Make sure to check it out if you haven't seen it) and got the pineapple reference straight away. Matt Young from King Parrot gives the guys a lift in exchange for a pineapple and its pretty funny. The song is awesome too and one of my favourites from them.

After The Burial. People who are familiar with my band will probably know how much I love parody merch with our Shrek and Aladdin themed shirts. Hell we've even done a take on Jims mowing. I bought this shirt many years ago because it felt like it was made for me. When I was younger I used to joke around and call good guitarists Shred Flanders, Shreddy Krueger, Tappy Gilmore and other lame shit like that. I love After the Burial and I love the Simpsons so its win win. I haven't worn it in a while but whenever I wore this shirt out I'd always have random people come up to me and comment on it saying how funny it was.

Wormed. I've worn this particular shirt on stage many times because I love Phlegetons artwork and am a huge fan of Wormed. The whole 'space' theme was a big inspiration for my side project 'Wallet Inspector' and I actually had the logo for it designed by Phlegeton too. We have also had him do the artwork for most of the Whoretopsy Albums and EPs. He is an awesome guy and I just love all of his work. I really hope I get the opportunity to see Wormed live one day as they have never been to Australia.
