Album Review: Beartooth - Disease
Release date: 28 September 2018
Review by Wade Speer
Columbus, Ohio based hardcore band Beartooth are releasing a new album titled Disease this Friday September 28 via Red Bull Records/UNFD.
I’m going to be straight forward here and say I didn’t enjoy the album all that much as I thought I would. Definitely a big sound change compared to their previous albums. Which isn’t a bad thing at all, bands need to grow and release what they want to.
There’s definitely a few songs I dig on the album like “Bad listener”, “Manipulation” and “Enemy” which has their hard hitting beat that I love. I feel that his vocals are too soft in a lot of songs to suit their hardcore-style and definitely doesn’t scream as much.
Even the songs I do enjoy, I feel there’s just something missing out of the Beartooth I’m used to. The music is a bit slower than usual as well. But the bloke does an incredible vocal range and I can’t bag them for doing what they love.
In conclusion, I wouldn’t say not to listen to the album as I’m sure a lot of people would enjoy it. It’s probably a bit like Parkway Drive fans going from Horizons to Reverence. It’s still Beartooth but just a bit toned down.
5 out of 10.
